Extreme: Utmost or exceedingly great in degree – extreme joy. This is the meaning of extreme in the dictionary. We all use the term extreme for many reasons, but this time we are going to talk about extreme sports.
Why do people risk their lives or put themselves to the limit just for a few minutes of joy? That’s the question that a lot of people ask to extreme athletes. But what they don’t know is that the feeling of those minutes of joy it’s better than anything else. As a extreme athlete I think that the best part of practicing this sport is overcoming your fears and know that you can do whatever you want if you set your mind the correct way. People usually stop doing things or not even try new thing because of their fears, without knowing that those things could change their lives in a positive way.
“The sport of skydiving continues to improve its safety record. In 2018, USPA recorded 13 fatal skydiving accidents in the U.S. out of roughly 3.3 million jumps—the lowest number in the sport’s history! That’s one fatality per 253,669 jumps!” we can clearly see in this statistic that skydive and extreme sports in general are not that dangerous as people think. But of course there have been deaths in these sports. Usually the deaths cause in these sports are not because of the sport, but because of the irresponsibility from the athletes. As a friend of mine that is also an extreme athlete told me, that people get injured in these sports because they think that they are invincible, they trust too much in their skills and they risk their lives just doing “stupid stuff”.
